Seattle is a wonderful place to be… I love this gorgeous emerald city, but I especially love the people here who surround me!! Last Sunday, I went to the ninth annual “Panty Party”, hosted by my amazing sister-in-law, Carly and my lovely friend Alissa. Every year, they invite the sweetest, sexiest, most wonderful ladies in town (and some from far) to what can only be called the best holiday of the year! I am lucky enough to get to attend, and this year we classed it up by having the “Panty Party” at Solo Bar who even invented a beautiful pink Panty Party drink, just for us. Here I am in my finery!

The gist of what happens at the party, is lots of laughing, and ladies only, giving and recieving adorable undergarments!!! I think that there should be annual Panty Parties happening everywhere, so if you’re interested in hosting one with your girlfriends, let me know, and I’ll ask the professionals and get the info on how it is best done! Tomorrow is my last day (for a while) at the 5th Avenue Theater, and soon you will find me sewing in a new “Gossamer” studio!!! The exciting news is that we will be “moving in together”!!! This is a dream that the five of us have had for a while, and I will soon let you know more details, but we are all very excited to work in studios right next to each other, and host events in our own space!
Before that happens, though, me and my baby (my husband, Cameron) have a few little plans… We’re going on a road trip, yay!! First stop, Seattle! On Saturday night we are going to see USE play at the the newly remodeled Crocodile Cafe!

USE has been working really hard writing and recording a new album, and Cam has put in many hours with them on the last leg of of the journey for the recording and mixing, so it’s a perfect way for us to kick off our VAY-CAY by dancin’ it up to the heart beats of this wonderful family of a band!! We can’t wait, you should come too! Then Sunday, we pack our bags, and for a whole week we will be road-trippin’, with stops in Oregon, (to see our niece and nephew, and their parents) then the Redwood forest, then San Francisco! Ruthie’s Uniform will not miss this fabric shopping opportunity! I’ll be using my shotgun time for sketching and dreaming up adorable cotton dresses and skirts for summer. We are just going to do about a day of exploring in San Fran, which I have only briefly been through, and finally Cam will take me to dinner at the House of Nanking, (I can’t count how many time’s I’ve heard about how good it is). Then, on to Santa Cruz for a little surfing and hanging with our buddy, Eric. Yipee! Cam and my schedules match for once, and we are very excited to rent a car, hit the road, and be amazed and inspired (and hopefully warmed up a little)!!
Well, thanks for reading and have a great week. I will post photos of our adventures when we get home…. or from the road if I am REALLY inspired!
Love,
Ru

Yes! Angel Eyes designs and makes the CUTEST bathing suits in town!! She uses all vintage stretch fabrics, and they are very flattering to the figure. Here’s a shot of me modeling… I think she will be posting the rest of the photos on her website soon. Thanks for your comments on my blog everyone! I love it!!!
Hi folks!
Well, here goes; I am going to attempt to “really” blog. Meaning, not just one or two posts a year, but hopefully one or two posts a week…(I will be very proud if I can manage one post a week to start with). It feels like a big commitment for me, because I’m nervous that I’ll get too busy and forget to write, or not have anything interesting to say, or no fun photos to post… but, I think it will be good for me, so, if there is not much to tell about “Ruthie’s Uniform”, I am going to let you know about what is going on with other artists and designers that I know and like! Sound like fun?
This is what IS happening with Ruthie’s Uniform. I (Ruthie) am working at the 5th Avenue Theater in the costume shop as a stitcher. I just found a wonderful backstage blog that gives you a closer look at what is going on behind the scenes of the shows. There are some great posts by actors who are in the current production of “Hello Dolly”. “Dolly” is played by Jennifer Lewis, and I am proud to say that the amazing team that I am a part of, created all of the gorgeous costumes that she wears from scratch, and she looks amazing in them!!! There are some photos and videos of them on the 5th Avenue website. I’ve put many hours in at the theater lately, and haven’t had a whole lot of time for my own designs, but I am working on one wedding dress for a beautiful lady who is getting married in April. I’ll post photos after the wedding! I have also been meeting with the wonderful women in Gossamer, and we are making exciting plans for the future! (More news about that soon!)
I have had a few days off this weekend, so I’ve been spending a little bit of time hanging out with friends and getting ready for spring. Yesterday I brushed up on my rusty modeling skills and helped my friend Angela (Angel Eyes Designs), with a bathing suit photo shoot for her darling vintage inspired swimsuits. They are really amazing! I have a red bikini that she made, and am drooling over her halter one-piece suits too, and may have to have one. My husband Cam also recently needed some help getting his wardrobe fixed up…the other day he let me know that all of his favorite t-shirts were full of holes! I checked them out and even tried to fix one, but not much could be done! He used to tour with his band, the Pale Pacific a lot more frequently, so he was always trading for other band t-shirts, and was never in short supply, so this was new news to me. I thought of my good friend Eric, who’s clothing company, Puckish, makes wonderful t-shirts and other amazing clothing and accessories, and ordered poor Cam a new shirt… Here’s what it looks like:
cute!
Well, thanks for reading, I hope that you enjoyed it. I am always looking inspiration, so if you have any ideas for my blog, or for my clothing line, send them my way.
Au revoir et salut!
